Virgin Blue CEO succession updates, easyJet benefits from BA’s pain

Virgin Blue is reportedly considering new CCO, Liz Savage, to replace Brett Godfrey as the carrier's new CEO, according to reports in The Australian. Virgin Blue's shares eased 1.7% yesterday.

The Australian carrier recently revealed plans to replace one of its Senior Management positions with a British airline executive. The media has speculated departing easyJet CEO, Andy Harrison, and former Qantas executive, John Borghetti as potential candidates for the new CEO position.

Meanwhile easyJet, Virgin Atlantic and bmi are experiencing increased bookings as a result of the planned strike by British Airways cabin crews. easyJet told Bloomberg the carrier still has 160,000 seats available during the 12-day strike period, but is considering scheduling additional flights, due to strong demand.

easyJet's shares rose 0.8%, while Ryanair advanced 1.5%.
