SilkAir increases flights to four Chinese cities

SINGAPORE (XFNews-ASIA) - Singapore Airlines unit SilkAir said it has increased the frequency of its flights to four Chinese cities between June 1 and Oct 28 to meet increased demand.
The airline now operates nine flights a week to Xiamen, up from seven; daily flights to Shenzhen, up from six flights a week; five flights a week to Chengdu, up from four; and three flights a week to Chongqing, up from two.
SilkAir will maintain its thrice-weekly service to Kunming.
The increase in frequencies means a 22 pct increase in capacity on its Chinese routes.
From January to May, SilkAir carried 48 pct more passengers than in the equivalent period last year. Passengers going to China accounted for 20 pct of this growth.
SilkAir also said it will operate more flights to Langkawi in Malaysia, increasing the frequency from four per week to five, and that it has plans for a daily service later in the year.
