Saudi Arabian posts losses, discounts fares

Premium Analysis

The privatisation of Saudi Arabian Airlines has suffered a setback, with the carrier unveiling a loss of SAR1.8 billion (USD479 million) in 2008. The result was attributed to higher fuel costs and approximately 3.6 million 'no-show' passengers (including 2.3 million domestic passengers and 1.2 million international passengers) who change their travel plans without informing the airline.
