Private Chinese airlines aim high

China's new private airlines have quickly moved to a

combined 3.6% share of the massive domestic market dominated by the "big

three" (China Southern - 29% share, China Eastern - 20% and

Air China - 17%). Second-tier carriers Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines,

Sichuan Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Shandong Airlines all have between 4-8%

of the market.
