Plans for a new Airport on the Calafonia/Nevada border due to increased traffic at Las Vegas

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - Clark County Department of Aviation announced it was preparing a USD14 million environmental impact report for a new airport complex, 30 miles southwest of Las Vegas.

The new Ivanpah Airport is situated on 6,000 acres of land between Jean and the California border. Phase I of the airport's construction is estimated at USD4 billion. The airport would have an initial capacity of 6 million passengers per annum, and is scheduled to commence operations in 2017.
