Mexico’s Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) still suffering

Shares in Mexico's Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) dipped 0.7% yesterday, upon the release of the airport operator's financial and traffic highlights for the three and 12 months ended 31-Dec-2009.

Revenue declined 1.2% year-on-year in 2009 to USD245.5 million, despite a stabilisation in the fourth quarter (-0.3%). Operating profit increased in the fourth quarter, while the full year result declined in the full year by 3.4% year-on-year to USD107.2 million. Net profit in both periods was weaker. Details include:

  • Three months ended 31-Dec-2009:
    • Revenue: MXN753 million, -0.3% year-on-year;
    • Operating costs: MXN465 million, -2.3%;
    • Operating profit: MXN288 million, +3.1%;
    • Net profit: MXN159 million, -23%;
    • Passenger numbers: 3.8 million, -6.0%;
  • 12 months ended 31-Dec-2009:
    • Revenue: MXN3,168 million, -1.2% year-on-year;
    • Operating costs: MXN1,785 million, +0.5%;
    • Operating profit: MXN1,384 million, -3.4%;
    • Net profit: MXN1,049 million, -24%,
    • Passenger numbers: 15.5 million, -12.5%.

MAp's prospects are 2010 are "positive"

Shares in MAp lost -0.7% yesterday, ahead of the release of its traffic report for Jan-2010, but have risen as much as 2% in trading today as the group reported an 11.5% increase in international traffic at Sydney Airport to 1.1 million, while domestic traffic rose 2.7% year-on-year to 1.9 million passengers. Passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport were up 5.7% year-on-year to 1.4 million in Jan-2010, while Brussels Airport handled 1.0 million passengers, an increase of 1.8% year-on-year.

MAp CEO, Kerrie Mather, stated the prospects for 2010 are "positive", with a "number of new routes already announced". MAp will announce its results for the 12 months ended 31-Dec-2009 on 25-Feb-2010.
