Mexican airports drop back on traffic report, BAA parent and Malaysia Airports rise
Shares in Mexican airport operators Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico and Aeropuertos del Sureste de México (ASUR) fell 4%, 1.8% and 0.9% yesterday on weaker than expected traffic reports for Nov-2009.
OMA reported the following traffic highlights in Nov-2009:
- Passenger numbers: 923,834, -10.9% year-on-year;
- Domestic: 778,561, -11.3%;
- International: 145,273, -8.5%
GAP meanwhile reported the following traffic:
- Passenger numbers: -2.9% year-on-year
- Domestic: -1.7%;
- International: -5.2%.
Elsewhere, China's airports also showed weakness, with Beijing Airport (-3.6%), Hainan Airport (-3.3%), Guangzhou (-2.4%), Shenzhen (-1.9%) and Shanghai (-1.3%) all losing ground as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.1% yesterday, due to profit-taking and concerns about an increasing number of IPOs hitting the market.
BAA parent, Ferrovial gained 2% yesterday.
