Malaysia Airlines Receives IATA operational safety audit (IOSA) certification

KUALA LUMPUR (Malaysia Airlines) - Malaysia Airlines scored a remarkable result in the International Air Transportation Association's Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and has joined the league of airlines in qualifying for this IATA accreditation under the world body's safety audit standards.
Malaysia Airlines Managing Director Mr. Idris Jala received the IOSA Certificate from Mr. Andrew Drysdale, IATA's Regional Vice President Asia Pacific, at the airline's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
"Receiving the IOSA Certificate is another milestone in our airline's never ending journey to pursue with total determination, a consistent achievement of maintaining a safe and secure operational environment for our customers, staff and other stakeholders. It raises our marketability as an airline with high safety standards," Idris said.
"Malaysia Airlines is the 43rd operator in the IOSA registry out of 275 IATA member airlines. In fact this certification is indeed exemplary for our code share partners to take note during their due diligence of our processes," he further added.
IOSA is the first global standard for airline safety management and is a key tool to move the entire industry forward. It is a rigorous audit that looks at a wide range of the airlines operations. We congratulate Malaysia Airlines on achieving this global standard, said Mr. Andrew Drysdale.
The certification audit conducted by Aviation Compliance Solution (ACS), an International Air Transport Association (IATA) accredited Audit Organisation, covered the following eight functional and operational areas of Malaysia Airlines:
IOSA - IATA Operational Safety Audit is the world's first airline safety audit based on international standard of safety and quality within the aviation industry. IATA oversees the accreditation of audit and training organizations, ensures continuous development of the IOSA standards and recommended practices and manages the central database of IOSA audit reports. IATA also implements effective quality assurance to ensure overall programme standardization and ensures that the programme is meeting airline needs as effectively as possible.
The IOSA Certificate has been recognized by the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Transport Canada and Europe's Joint Aviation Authority.
