Japanese airports gain a lift as traffic outlook improves - SHARE WRAP

Analysis

Japan Airport Terminal (JAT), operator of terminal facilities at Tokyo's predominantly domestic Haneda Airport rose 3.5% yesterday, as did Macquarie Airports, which owns a strategic stake in JAT.

Haneda will be used by more international airlines from Oct-2010, when a fourth runway opens at the airport. The Japanese Government has been busy signing expanded bilateral air services agreements lately, providing coveted access to Haneda for key trading partners.

The latest deal was reached last week with Canada, which will permit airlines from both sides to operate one daily flight from Haneda late at night or early in the morning.

Aviation stocks in Japan also gained a lift yesterday on an improved traffic outlook for the upcoming Golden Week Holiday period.
