Investors eagerly await Chennai tender

Premium Analysis

Global airport investors have been busy forming alliances with

Indian companies ahead of the much-anticipated modernisation project for Chennai

International Airport. The airport is expected to be privatised under a similar

PPP model to Delhi and Mumbai, under which the private sector owns a 74% interest

in the JV, while Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the respective State

governments hold 13% each. Foreign investors, though, are not allowed to represent

more than 49% of the JV.
