Incheon Airport passenger numbers edge back from lows, but cargo flat-lining

Analysis

Incheon International Airport, South Korea's main gateway, reported passenger numbers were down 10.1% year-on-year in Mar-2009 - the best figure since Oct-2008.

But recovery in the important freight segment was short-lived, with cargo volumes falling 14.8% year-on-year to 228,194 tonnes - worse than the 13.4% reduction in Feb-2009. A full recovery could take several more months, and is highly dependent on the performance of the US economy.
