Gold Coast Airport's record breaking year
GOLD COAST (Queensland Airports) - Gold Coast Airport ended the 2005 year on a very positive note with passenger movements passing 3.5 million.
"Gold Coast Airport handled 3,506,987 passengers in 2005 representing an increase of 21.5% over the 2,885,338 movements recorded in 2004", said Dennis Chant Managing Director of Queensland Airports Limited, the owner of Gold Coast Airport.
Passenger movements for December 2005 were the second highest monthly throughput recorded at 316,342 or 21% up on the same month in 2004.
"International passenger movement growth has been particularly strong with the yearly total for 2005 passing 300,000 for the first time", said Mr Chant.
"Gold Coast Airport handled 300,726 international passengers in 2005 representing an increase of 35.9% over 2004."
