Finnair launches Hong Kong non-stops

Analysis

Finnair launched five times weekly non-stop Helsinki-Hong Kong

service on 19-May-07, with frequency rising to daily from 04-Jun-07.

Until now Finnair has operated between Helsinki and Hong Kong three times a week via Bangkok. The more than four hours shorter flight time and daily flights will improve travel comfort and convenience. The flights to Hong Kong will be operated non-stop also next winter.

Due to strong demand Finnair has massively increased traffic to Asia. In addition to Hong Kong, Finnair also operates directly to Beijing and Shanghai, while a fourth weekly flight will be added to Guangzhou. This will give a total of 25 frequencies per week to China.

When Finnair starts operating daily non-stop flights to Hong Kong, three times weekly Singapore service will be discontinued.

Starting this summer, Finnair's intercontinental traffic includes ten Asian destinations, with daily service to six of them. Finnair's traffic to Asia is expected to grow by 30% this year.
