EADS's Forgeard sees 200 firm orders for Airbus A350 this year

Analysis

PARIS (XFNews) - Noel Forgeard, co-chief executive of European Aeronautics Defence and Space Co, confirmed that the company expects 200 firm orders for its new Airbus A350 plane following signature by Qatar Airways of an order for 60 of the jets.

About 200 preliminary deals in the pipeline are expected to turn into firm orders by the end of the year, he said.

The A350 is a twin-engine medium-size, long-haul jet being developed to compete with Boeing Co's 787 Dreamliner.
