Delta Air Lines to suspend Amman service in June, not resume Cairo
Delta Air Lines is planning to announce the suspension of service to Amman, Jordan, effective 01-Jun-2011, according to industry sources. CAPA understands an announcement about the three times weekly B767 service could be made tomorrow.
If implemented, the move would further diminish SkyTeam's tenuous market share at Amman, which is dominated by oneworld carriers.

Meanwhile, CAPA also understands the airline will make an announcement regarding its Cairo service. Delta, the world's biggest airline, "indefinitely suspended" six times weekly New York JFK-Cairo B767-300ER service on 29-Jan-2011 amid widespread political unrest across the country. Cairo service was originally launched with five times weekly frequency in Jun-2008.
