Cathay, Air China, China Southern soar as flu abates, Virgin/Qantas gain on delayed ETS - Share Wrap

China Southern, Cathay Pacific and Air China roared up 15.9%, 10.9% and 9.5%, respectively. China Airlines and EVA Air rose 3.9% and 6.7%, respectively, on comments by Taiwan President, Ma Ying-jeou, calling for a doubling in weekly cross-Strait flights to 540. Mainland China and Taiwan last week agreed to raise frequencies from 108 to 270 this Summer.

Shares in Virgin Blue and Qantas rose 7% and 3.9%, respectively, as the Australian Government deferred the implementation of its emissions trading scheme by 12 months.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange was closed for a public holiday.
