Canadian Government moves to end Air Canada strike

Analysis

The Canadian Government has introduced a notice of legislation to order striking Air Canada ticket agents and call-centre employees represented by the Canadian Auto Workers union, to return to work, noting the action was damaging the national economy.

The government can introduce a bill after 48-hours of the notice being given. Air Canada's B-shares rose 5.6% on Tuesday. See related report: Air Canada readies for strike

Elsewhere, Alaska Air's shares gained 3.5% and Delta rose 2.6%.
