Brilliant South Australian Holiday Bargains

Analysis

The Rann Government has launched a new campaign to encourage South Australians to holiday in their own backyard.

The Brilliant Bargains campaign, to be launched tomorrow with a lift-out in The Sunday Mail, will feature more than 140 reasons to take a break in South Australia before the Christmas rush, including free nights, bonuses and added extras.

Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith says Brilliant Bargains allows South Australians to save money while they support the State's economy.

"South Australians taking holidays in their own State account for 40 per cent of our visitor nights, and make up a vital part of our tourism industry," Minister Lomax-Smith says.

"The number one tourism destination for South Australians is South Australia, and we're working hard to ensure that preference continues.

"We have growing numbers of international tourists coming to South Australia and now we are encouraging South Australians to consider a holiday in their own State.

"The $170,000 campaign will kick off tomorrow with a full-colour lift-out in every copy of The Sunday Mail. This is the culmination of a week-long 'teaser' campaign in The Advertiser to promote Brilliant Bargains.

"The lift-out will feature more than 100 South Australian holiday packages, and more than 60 Must See, Must Do attractions and activities to suit every taste and budget.

"With free nights, added extras, great bonuses and suggested activities, the Brilliant Bargains lift-out is your complete guide to booking and making the most of your South Australian holiday.

The insert in The Sunday Mail will be followed by a Brilliant Bargains advertising campaign to include radio, press and electronic direct mail.

All the Brilliants Bargains will be on show and can be booked online at www.southaustralia.com or call the SA Visitor and Travel Centre on 1300 655 215.

The first instalment of the Brilliant Bargains campaign will run until December 15, and, if successful, two more instalments will be rolled out next year.

Brilliant Bargains is a cooperative retail campaign between the South Australian Tourism Commission and the State's 12 tourism regions.
