BIAL forecasts traffic to improve from Sep-2009 or Oct-2009 onwards

Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL) has forecast passenger traffic and cargo tonnes will start to recover in Sep-2009 or Oct-2009 onwards. Passenger traffic at Bangalore (Bengaluru) International Airport fell for the 11th consecutive month, down 21.8% year-on-year, to 643,905 in Mar-2009. Domestic traffic led the decline, down 27.6% year-on-year to 517,772 passengers, while international traffic neither fell or improved, reporting 126,133 passengers. The decline in traffic was also the result of a 19.1% fall in aircraft movements during the period.
