Beijing Airport, Shanghai Airport and MAp shares fall, Europe higher while Mexico’s ASUR surge


Shares in Asia Pacific airports were down yesterday while European and Mexican airport shares were generally higher. Mexican airport operator, ASUR was a standout yesterday, surging 8.5% as the swine flu recovery continues.

In Europe, airport shares were generally higher as European stock markets recovered and several major airports reported improved passenger traffic last month. Fraport’s shares rose 4.2%, outperforming the Frankfurt Dax 30 index (+3.2%) as Frankfurt Airport's Jun-2009 traffic number improved.

Zurich Airport’s shares remained stable after reporting mixed traffic results last month:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.9 million, +1.7% year-on-year;
  • Aircraft movements: 22,666, -7.6%;
  • Cargo volume: 26,602 tonnes, -20.1%.

TAV Airports’ shares went against the general European trend, falling 1.5% yesterday.

In the Asia Pacific region, shares in Macquarie Airports, Shanghai Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport fell 3.7%, 2.6% and 2.0%, respectively yesterday. Positive performers in the region included Shenzhen and Guangzhou airports, which rose 4.3% and 1.1%, respectively.
