Beijing Airport reports 7.6% traffic increase; Korea Airports Corporation pax up 5.3%

China's Beijing Airport (+1.2%) reported a 7.6% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 748,488, on the back of a 3.2% increase in aircraft movements to 5,523, during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival travel period, from 21-Sep-2010 to 24-Sep-2010.

Japan's Tokyo Narita International Airport pax traffic up 7% - traffic highlights in Jul-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 3.0 million, +7.0%
    • Domestic: 149,009, +37.0%;
    • International: 2.9 million, +5.0%
  • Aircraft movements: 16,899, +5.0%;
  • Air cargo: 188,191 tonnes, +16%.

Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) (+1.5%) reports (27-Sep-2010) the following traffic highlights at South Korean airports in Aug-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.6 million, +5.3% year-on-year;
    • Gimpo: 1.6 million, +6.3%;
    • Gimhae: 749,483, +9.7%;
    • Jeju: 1.6 million, +2.6%;
    • Daegu: 117,510, +11.8%;
    • Gwangju: 115,986, -7.9%;
    • Muan: 11,515, +34.5%;
    • Cheongju: 135,459, +18%;
    • Yeosu: 51,970, +0.3%;
    • Ulsan: 80,308, -0.2%;
    • Jinju: 13,384, -18.7%;
    • Pohang: 28,681, +7.4%;
    • Gunsan: 17,654, +1%;
    • Wonju: 7,224, -13.2%;
    • Yangyang: 3,466, n/a.

Australia's unlisted Gold Coast Airport delivered a 30.5% return on its investment in the past financial year. Gold Coast Airport is Australia's sixth busiest with passenger numbers rising 12% over the previous financial year.

Other Asia Pacific airport operator shares that gained included Australian Infra Fund (+3.2%) and Airports of Thailand (+1.2%) while Malaysia Airports shares remained stable.
