ARINC DirectSM offers APG's runway analysis service for business jets

Analysis

ANNAPOLIS (AIRNC) - ARINC DirectSM today announced it has partnered with Aircraft Performance Group (APG) of Castle Rock, CO, to provide APG's Runway Analysis as part of the ARINC Direct suite of on-line flight services.

APG is the world's leading provider of Internet-based runway analysis-the complex calculation of safe takeoff parameters based on aircraft weight and type, actual runway conditions including obstructions and terrain, and real-time weather. ARINC Direct now offers APG Runway Analysis as an integrated feature of its flight planning services available via any standard Internet connection.

"Many commercial airlines and large business aviation departments already use APG Runway Analysis to enhance the safety of daily operations," stated Dave Poltorak, ARINC Vice President of Business Aviation Solutions. "We are very pleased to bring this same capability to the business aviation community through ARINC Direct."

Runway Analysis allows operators to safely and accurately increase their maximum takeoff and landing weights based on specific runways and actual conditions. In some cases the allowance may increase by thousands of pounds, a tremendous benefit when a flight crew might otherwise have to limit passengers or cargo. Using actual data, runway analysis often allows aircraft to put on enough fuel to eliminate an unwanted tech stop.

APG's Runway Analysis service is unique because it covers over 100 types of business aircraft. APG determines the maximum allowable takeoff and landing gross weights based upon specific aircraft/engine combinations, aircraft configurations, airport/runway characteristics, and operating rules. The Runway Analysis tool utilizes software developed by APG, combined with aircraft manufacturer-supplied software, and performance data from the appropriate Approved Airplane Flight Manual (AFM).

"The Aircraft Performance Group was created to provide fast and convenient runway analysis 24 hours a day," stated Todd Chwialkowski, APG performance engineer and company partner. "This new partnership with ARINC Direct will make our service more accessible and speed adoption by the business aircraft community."

Aircraft Performance Group, Inc. (APG) was established in 1999 with the goal of providing accurate and timely "Runway Analysis" (Takeoff and Landing Performance Data) and "Airport Data" (Runway Obstruction Data). APG data adhering to FAA or JAR-OPS requirements is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. For more information, visit the APG web site at www.apg.aero.
