Airlines will come and go. New ACI Director fires up the worlds airports
Airports Council International's (ACI) Director General of five months, Angela Gittens, has used the opening address at the airport body's World Annual General Assembly in Boston to activate the sector to firmly pursue its agenda amid a downturn in traffic and other challenges facing airports.
Airport-airline relations could be strained over the next two years, as increasingly distressed airlines seek concessions from services providers, and as airports seek to "unleash their power", as urged by Ms Gittens. She stated the General Assembly is a time to "take a frank look at what is happening around us and determine where we need to put our energy over the coming year to defend our common interests".
