AirAsia load factor falls to lowest levels in over two years in 1Q09


AirAsia transported 3.1 million passengers in the three months ended 31-Mar-09 (1Q09), representing a 21% year-on-year increase. Also in the first quarter, traffic (RPKs) increased 17% year-on-year (indicating a shift to more shorter-haul flying by passengers), on a 19% capacity (ASKs) increase, resulting in a load factor reduction of 2.4 ppts to 69.7%. This was AirAsia’s lowest load factor in over two years. [1396 words]
