Air Lease Corporation acquires Air France B777-300ER, AWAS signs deal with GOL for five B737-800s

Analysis

Air Lease Corporation has mandated KfW IPEX-Bank as Arranger and sole Lender for an eight-year commercial debt financing of one 2008 vintage B777-300ER aircraft. The aircraft is being acquired from Air France and will be leased back to the airline for a period of eight years. The transaction closed on 30-Mar-2011.

AWAS delivers aircraft fleet solution to GOL

Dublin based aircraft lessor, AWAS, has meanwhile agreed with GOL to enter into a purchase and lease back agreement for five B737-800s that the carrier had previously ordered directly from the manufacturer for May 2011-Feb-2013 delivery.

To assist GOL with its plans for fleet-type consolidation, modernisation and expansion, AWAS has also agreed to an early return of two B767-300ERs that do not meet GOL's immediate fleet needs. AWAS has already secured new long-term homes for these aircraft.

Aircraft leasing stocks were mixed yesterday. FLY Leasing gained 2.3%, while ALAFCO fell 1.4%.
