Aeroméxico signs ARINC as data link service provider

Analysis

Annapolis (ARINC) - ARINC Incorporated today announced it has been selected as data link service provider for Mexico's largest airline, Aeroméxico. Under a contract just signed, ARINC will provide its GLOBALinkSM VHF data link service for the growing fleet of Aeroméxico, recognized as the most punctual airline in the world.

"All of our new B737-700 aircraft-a total of 25 planes by December 2005-are equipped with data link avionics," stated Pablo López, Senior Vice President-Technical for Aeroméxico. "The enhanced coverage now available from ARINC persuaded us to add data link service at this time. The automation will ease workloads of our pilots, and help us obtain accurate technical information and maintain our excellent on-time record."

ARINC has been enhancing its data link coverage of Mexican airspace since 2002, completely upgrading all its GLOBALink ground stations with new electronics, while increasing the number of stations to 26. These changes have improved regional coverage and they help to ensure seamless GLOBALink VHF connectivity for GLOBALink customers throughout Mexican airspace.

"ARINC is very pleased to be awarded this competitive contract by one of the world's leading airlines," stated Ron Hawkins, ARINC Vice President, Aviation Solutions. "We look forward to a fruitful relationship with Aeromexico, as they will have the benefits of GLOBALink coverage not only on their domestic and North American routes, but on all their routes to South America and Europe as well."
