About

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) is an intergovernmental organisation dealing with the rules and policies of international trade. Established in 1995 to replace the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the WTO aims to assist producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct business, through monitoring and further encouraging the liberalisation of the international trade system. The WTO has 153 members, of which 117 are developing countries or separate customs territories.
