Harbin Taiping International Airport, formerly known as Yanjiagang Airport, is located approximately 37 kilometres south of Harbin city, the capital and largest city of Heilongjiang province, China. The airport opened in 1979 and was upgraded to an international airport in 1984. Today, Harbin Airport is the largest airport in northern China and serves as an important domestic hub for this part of the country. The airport primarily receives domestic services from Chinese carriers linking Harbin to other metropolitan cities throughout China. The airport's international services primarily originate from destinations in North Asia and Eastern/Central Europe. Harbin Airport is operated by the Heilongjiang Provincial Government.
