About

Air Seoul is a Korean LCC based at Seoul Incheon International Airport. A subsidiary of Asiana Airlines, the carrier commenced service operations on 11-Jul-2016, with a four times daily Seoul Gimpo-Jeju service. The carrier completed trial services between Seoul Gimpo-Gwangju/Jeju/Seoul Incheon between 15-Jun-2016 and 28-Jun-2016 ahead of its official launch. During the initial stages, Air Seoul operates with a fleet of A320 aircraft. It commenced international operations on 10-Oct-2016, having applied for 16 routes covering five countries, including to Osaka, Kumamoto, Toyama, Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai, Phnom Penh, Da Nang and Kota Kinabalu. Air Seoul is the second Asiana LCC subsidiary after Air Busan.

On 29-Sep-2021, Korean Air confirmed it received approval from Korea Development Bank (KDB) for its post merger integration (PMI) plan to acquire a controlling stake in Asiana Airlines for KRW1.8 trillion (USD1.5 billion) and subsequently merge the two airlines. The PMI includes provisions for gradually merging the two airlines into a single full service carrier under the Korean Air brand, integrating Korean Air's LCC subsidiary Jin Air with Asiana's LCC subsidiaries Air Seoul and Air Busan.
