Xiamen Airlines formally establishes Beijing branch company

Xiamen Airlines officially launched (05-Sep-2014) the carrier’s Beijing branch company on 05-Sep-2014, marking a significant milestone in the development of the carrier. The branch company is Xiamen Airlines’ sixth, which is expected to support its expansion in North China. Xiamen Airlines currently deploys 13 aircraft at Beijing Capital International Airport, including seven overnight aircraft, which operates 21 daily services on 10 domestic routes. From 2011 to 2013, the Xiamen-based carrier handled 4.96 million passengers and 37,000 aircraft movements on Beijing route, ranking fifth among domestic airlines. Following the establishment of the branch company, Xiamen Airlines will increase frequencies from Beijing to Fujian, Hangzhou and other major bases, while also gradually open more trunk routes linking Beijing and Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Kunming. Xiamen Airlines is expected to double its capacity in Beijing when the new CNY86 billion (USD13.4 billion) Beijing airport will be put into operation. By 2020, the Beijing branch will own a fleet of 40 aircraft, annual passenger volume of 5 million and contribute CNY120 million (USD18.8 million) p/a. Chairman Che Shanghlun said the new branch company will not only guarantee the airline to implement its strategic objective of "strengthening in northern China, expanding in central and western China", but also will become a new force for boosting civil aviation development in the local regions.
