US BTS reports 1.6% rise in system passenger numbers in Jun-2011
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reports (15-Sep-2011) the following total system (domestic and international) traffic results for US airlines in Jun-2011:
- Passenger numbers: 66.1 million, +1.6% year-on-year;
- Passenger traffic (RPMs): +2.1%;
- Capacity (ASMs): +2.8%;
- Load factor: 85.5%, -0.7 ppt;
According to BTS, Delta was the largest US airline, by total scheduled system enplanements in Jun-2011. The top ten airlines are as follows:
- Delta: 10.5 million, +1.2%;
- Southwest: 9.9 million, +3.8%;
- American: 7.7 million, +0.9%;
- US Airways: 4.7 million, +2.1%;
- United: 4.7 million, -5%;
- Continental: 4.1 million, +4.7%;
- AirTran: 2.3 million, +0.3%;
- JetBlue: 2.2 million, +7.1%;
- Skywest: 2.0 million, -5.6%;
