UNWTO: Coordinated action is key to getting global tourism moving again

UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reported (15-Sep-2020) despite a growing number of destinations starting to open up again to international tourists, many governments remain cautious about opening their borders. UNWTO secretary-general Zurab Pololikashvili said safe and responsible international travel "is now possible in many parts of the world, and it is imperative that governments work closely with the private sector to get global tourism moving again". He added: "Coordinated action is key". The UNWTO states major outbound markets such as the US and China continue to be at a standstill, though some markets such as France and Germany have shown some improvement in Jun-2020.
