Tiger to focus more on Asia in short-term: CEO

Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis stated that he remains committed to "medium-term" growth in Australia, despite recently announcing plans to defer the delivery of aircraft to its Australian subsidiary, Tiger Airways Australia (The Australian, 01-Feb-2011). Mr Davis said the airline will be focussing on higher-growth markets in Asia, with expected growth in Singapore to be twice that in Australia. He hopes to roll out the Thai Tiger JV in 2011 and increase cooperation with Southeast Asian Airlines.

Tiger Airways: "We think that the business here in Australia is a solid part of the network strategy, it's a good contributor to the group. But you have to say right now the opportunities in Asia mean that you'd probably want to put more growth into Asia, which is what we're doing. So for the period April to October, we're seeing 20% growth here in Australia, 40% growth in Singapore." Tony Davis, CEO. Source: The Australian, 01-Fev-2011.
