SWISS: Air travel 'unlikely' to recover until COVID-19 pandemic subsides
SWISS reported (05-Nov-2020) it has operated 16 of its 24 established long haul destinations since the start of winter 2020/2021, with two more to be added in Mar-2020. As a result, SWISS stated it is serving a disproportionately large number of long haul destinations compared to other Lufthansa Group airlines from its Zurich hub, albeit with fewer frequencies than originally planned. "We will continue to do everything in our power to perform our mission of keeping Switzerland optimally connected with the world", SWISS CEO Thomas Klühr said. He mentioned the air transport sector is "unlikely" to see a recovery until the COVID-19 pandemic subsides and immigration bans and quarantine requirements are lifted, adding that the industry "must have parameters in place" by summer 2021 to enable mobility options for travellers.
