Spring Airlines becoming an e-commerce entity, e-commerce changing customer behaviour
Spring Airlines VP Jonathan Hutt, speaking at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit, outlined (16-Nov-2016) a "slight but significant shift" in the carrier's digital strategy to an online platform offering aviation and travel products, becoming an e-commerce entity rather than just an airline. Mr Hutt said the rapid growth of new e-commerce providers in China impacts the way customers buy and will have a flow-on effect on airlines. Mr Hutt said carriers will become irrelevant in the market if they stick to core offerings.
