Southwest Airlines passenger numbers up in Nov-2011, PRASM gains

Southwest Airlines reports (06-Dec-2011) the following combined traffic highlights for Southwest Airlines and AirTran in Nov-2011:

  • Revenue passenger numbers: 9.2 million, +1.7% year-on-year;
  • Enplaned passengers: 11.1 million, +1.5%;
  • Passenger load factor: 81.6%, +1.4 ppts;

CFO Laura Wright told MarketWatch the carrier expects another “exceptional” month of unit revenue growth in Dec-2011.

Southwest: “For November 2011, passenger revenue per ASM (PRASM) is estimated to have increased approximately nine percent as compared to November 2010's combined PRASM.” Source: Company statement, 06-Dec-2011.
