South African airlines restore 50% capacity in two weeks following domestic resumption

South Africa's Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula reported (29-Jun-2020) the following developments since the resumption of limited domestic air travel on 01-Jun-2020:

  • CemAir resumed operations on 05-Jun-2020;
  • Airlink (South Africa) resumed operations on 08-Jun-2020;
  • FlySafair and Mango resumed operations on 15-Jun-2020;
  • Mr Mbalula stated airlines took "almost two weeks to build passenger numbers to at least 50% capacity";
  • South African Civil Aviation Authority resumed aviation personnel licence examinations on 08-Jun-2020 and aviation training organisations reopened for students. [more - original PR]
