SkyWest Inc orders 100 Embraer E175s with option for a further 100

SkyWest Inc announced (21-May-2013) a firm order for 100 two-class 76-seat Embraer E175s with options for a further 100, valued at USD8.3 billion total, and USD4.1 billion for the firm orders at list prices. Of the 100 firm orders, 40 are considered firm deliveries and will be operated by SkyWest Airlines under an agreement with United Airlines, with the remaining 60 aircraft considered conditional until the company enters into capacity purchase agreements with other major airlines to operate the aircraft. Deliveries of the 40 firm orders are scheduled to begin in 2Q2014 and continue though mid-2015. SkyWest Inc president Bradford R Rich said: "We are pleased with the agreement between Embraer and SkyWest that represents the culmination of a long and creative process for the acquisition and long-term management of the initial 40 firm aircraft to be operated for United. The selection of the E-Jet was based on the customer acceptance, fuel efficiency and attractive operating costs that are offered by this equipment type. We hold the Embraer team in high regard and look forward to a long-term future of operating these E-Jets." [more - original PR - SkyWest] [more - original PR - Embraer]
