Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney settle patent litigations

Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney announced they have reached an "amicable" settlement agreement over the patent cases underway between the two companies, resulting in the dismissal of all patent litigation and civil lawsuits (Reuters, 19-Jul-2011). The settlement also covers a related case before the US International Trade Commission, which theoretically threatened to affect deliveries of Rolls-Royce powered B787s. The cases covered blade and other component designs on Rolls-Royce's Trent 900 and 1000 engines and the GP7200 engine from Engine Alliance - a JV between Pratt & Whitney and General Electric.
