Passenger traffic up 6% in Jun-2012, cargo traffic up 1%: IATA

IATA reports (02-Aug-2012) the following traffic growth in Jun-2012:

  • Passenger traffic (RPKs): +6.2% year-on-year;
  • Passenger load factor: 81%;
    • International passenger load factor: 81%;
    • Domestic passenger load factor: 81.1%;
      • Australia: 77.1%;
      • Brazil: 71.1%;
      • China: 81.3%;
      • India: 74.2%;
      • Japan: 58.2%;
      • US: 86.6%;
  • Cargo traffic (FTKs): +0.8%;
    • International cargo traffic (FTKs): +1.1%;
      • Africa: +16.9%;
      • Asia Pacific: -3.5%;
      • Europe: -1.4%;
      • Latin America: -2.2%;
      • Middle East: +18.0%;
      • North America: +4.5%;

IATA: “Recent declines in business confidence have weakened the growth trend in air travel, and the pessimistic outlook continues to pose a threat to the airline industry.
