Netherlands approves KLM restructuring plan

Netherlands' Government agreed (03-Nov-2020) to a restructuring plan presented by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, making the carrier eligible for a EUR3.4 billion government loan negotiated in summer 2020. KLM's works council and the eight trade unions involved have agreed to a contribution through the terms of employment for the entire term of the loan package to enable KLM to reach a 15% reduction in costs in the coming years. Under the plan, KLM will also commit to a reduction in the number of night flights and a decrease in CO2 emissions per passenger by 50% in 2030 compared to 2005 levels. [more - original PR - Dutch]
