Mt Etna shuts Italian airports

Italy announced Mount Etna became active on 13-Jan-2011, spewing plumes of ash and lava on 13-Jan-2011 (Reuters, 13-Jan-2011). Two airports in Catania, at the base of the volcano, were closed throughout the night but have since reopened. ENAC stated it is continuing to monitor ash emissions.
