Middle Eastern investors sought for China airport expansion

Middle Eastern investors and airport operators are being targetted by China to attract additional investment for the development of new airports in China (Arabian Aerospace, 09-Mar-2011). Director of Policy Research at CAAC, Lui Shaocheng, said the country was aiming at 220 airports to serve the growing demands. "We need to increase air freight capacity and revitalise handling capacity for large hub airports," Mr Lui said. Attracting new airport freight investment would depend on a combination of state and local state funding and policies designed to appeal to private funding sources.
