Mesa Air Group to expand United Express fleet, extend United Airlines contract

Mesa Air Group announced (03-Dec-2019) plans to add 20 Embraer E175 LL aircraft to its United Express fleet, scheduled for delivery from May-2020 to the end of 2019. The aircraft will be owned and operated by Mesa under a 12 year capacity purchase agreement. The parties will also extend the contract for 42 United Airlines E175s for another five years, with the aircraft now contracted until the end of 2024 and the rights extended through 2027. The 18 E175s owned by Mesa are contracted until 2028. The transaction will result in United Express operations by Mesa becoming all E175s with an average age of 3.7 years. Additionally, Mesa Air Group's 20 Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft will be leased to another United Express carrier for seven years. [more - original PR]
