Lufthansa creates new airline resources and operations standards division to coordinate airline ops

Deutsche Lufthansa AG announced (04-Dec-2018) plans to expand its executive board with the addition of a new airline resources and operations standards division headed by Dr Detlef Kayser, who was also appointed as a new executive board member. Dr Kayser will assume responsibility for the newly created role on 01-Jan-2019 for a seven year period. The new division will coordinate uniform rules and standards for all group operations as well as resources for airlines. The new function will also be responsible for dialogue with all air traffic system partners regarding improvements in service level and quality. Lufthansa Group supervisory board chairman Dr Karl-Ludwig Kley said the summer 2018 season highlighted "major operational challenges" in air traffic, prompting the need to better prepare carriers, align their organisation more closely with value creation and strengthen core business with the new dedicated department.
