Liverpool Airport reports biggest pre-tax loss on record

UK's Liverpool John Lennon Airport reported its biggest profit before tax loss of GBP8.8 million on revenue of GBP31.1 million for the 12 months ended 31-Mar-2010 due to domestic and international economic recessions (UK-Airport-News.info, 07-Oct-2010). The loss includes a GBP4.8 million write down in the value of investment properties. The airport reported a 1% decline in passenger numbers to 5.1 million during the period but has seen a rebound in traffic from Nov-2009 with the exception of Apr-2010 and May-2010 due to the volcanic ash disruption from Iceland.
