LIAT resumes operations amidst reorganisation
LIAT, via its official Facebook account, announced (01-Nov-2020) the carrier returned "to Caribbean skies" on 01-Nov-2020 following a seven month grounding. LIAT operated a single Antigua-Dominica service on 01-Nov-2020, and plans a limited schedule of services when it launches its commercial schedule later in Nov-2020. The airline is completing training and working to meet regulatory requirements for territories to which it will be flying. The airline was forced to suspend services in Apr-2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic which led to several destinations imposing travel bans and closing their borders. The airline, which is currently under administration, is being restructured to improve its viability and the sustainability following a decision by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to reorganise the airline. Passengers will be able to book flights via the new booking engine on the LIAT website which will be launched shortly.
