LATAM Airlines Group expects to improve profitability in 2014 with operating profit growth of 6%-8%

LATAM Airlines Group announced (27-Nov-2013) its preliminary guidance for 2014, stating: "Having reviewed our operational projections for 2014, we are providing preliminary guidance regarding capacity in both passenger and cargo operations. We expect to improve profitability and estimate operating margins for the full year 2014 to be in the range of 6% to 8%". The company added, "LATAM will review its guidance on a quarterly basis to incorporate any important changes in macroeconomic variables or operating performance". Traffic forecast details include:

  • 2013 ASK growth:
    • International (long-haul & regional): +2% to +4% year-on-year;
    • Brazil domestic: -7% to -9%;
    • SSC domestic: +12% to +14%;
    • Total: 0% to +2%;
  • 2014 ASK growth:
    • International (long-haul & regional): -2.0% to 0%;
    • Brazil domestic: 0%;
    • SSC domestic: +6% to +8%;
