Kyiv Igor Sikorsky Airport commences phased redundancies

Kyiv Igor Sikorsky International Airport commenced (30-Jun-2020) the phased redundancy of 50% of the workforce, in light of the crisis faced by the aviation industry as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The airport employs 2000 people. Kyiv Igor Sikorsky Airport requested support from Ukraine's Government but did not receive a timely response. Master Avia director general Oleg Levchenko said: "We forecast a slow restoration of demand for air services and expect to return to pre-quarantine levels only after a few years. On our own, without government support, the airport cannot survive". [more - original PR - Russian]
