Kenya Airways to replace modified 787s with new long haul freighters: CEO

Kenya Airways Group MD and CEO Allan Kilavuka, speaking at CAPA Live from Puerto Rico October 2021, stated (13-Oct-2021) the airline's two Boeing 787 aircraft modified for cargo operations "are doing a fantastic job creating a lot of traffic for us because they are dependable and they do long haul". Mr Kilavuka said the airline intends to return the two aircraft to passenger operations once demand recovers and replace their cargo capacity with new long haul freighters. The carrier also plans to introduce two additional short haul freighters in late 2021 to support the existing fleet. Mr Kilavuka said Kenya Airways aims to expand cargo from 10% of its business to at least 20% by the end of 2022.
